Yanbaru National Park

What is Yanbaru National Park?
Yanbaru National Park is a subtropical virgin forest area that stretches across the northern part of Okinawa's main island (Kunigami, Ogimi, and Higashi villages), and was designated a national park in 2016 and a World Natural Heritage site in 2021.
Yanbaru“ means ”mountainous area" and is rich in nature, with precious subtropical evergreen forests and endemic species such as the Yanbaru rail.
It is gaining popularity as a representative nature experience-type tourist spot in northern Okinawa, where trekking, bird watching, eco-tours, and other activities can be enjoyed.
Why Yanbaru National Park is popular and how to enjoy it

Yanbaru National Park is popular because of its rich nature and variety of activities that only a World Natural Heritage site can offer.
The area offers a full range of hands-on sightseeing activities, including nature observation to encounter rare creatures such as the Okinawa rail, trekking, mangrove canoeing, and night tours. The area is also attractive as a quiet spot with relatively few tourists.
The combination of "beach + Yanbaru" has attracted the attention of many travelers as an enjoyable trip to Okinawa.
